Eleven years is a long time to keep a light switched on.
This October, BULB BOY ANTHOLOGY brings together the complete Bulb Boy adventure on PlayStation 5, arriving just in time for the original game’s 11th anniversary.
For anyone meeting him for the first time: Bulb Boy is small, glowing, strangely cheerful and capable of unscrewing his own head.
Which is useful, because things around him have a tendency to become deeply unpleasant.
The anthology contains both Bulb Boy and Bulb Boy 2: Jar of Despair, letting you follow his story from the darkness of the Bulbhouse all the way into the grotesque depths beneath it.
In Bulb Boy, our glowing hero wakes from a nightmare to discover that something terrible has happened to his home. His family is missing. Monsters have taken over. The Bulbhouse has gone dark.
You'll explore the house, solve puzzles, uncover its secrets and use Bulb Boy's unusual abilities to bring back the light.
Then comes Bulb Boy 2: Jar of Despair.
Grandparaffine needs a jar of jam from the basement.
Simple enough.
It isn't.
What follows involves jelly monsters, increasingly strange puzzles, disgusting surprises and a creature with an unhealthy interest in Bulb Boy's detachable head.
Strange. Funny. Disgusting. Charming.
Bulb Boy has always existed somewhere between a point-and-click adventure, a puzzle game, a cartoon and a particularly strange nightmare.
Its hand-crafted visual style draws on classic animation and 1990s cartoons, while the games tell their stories largely without conventional dialogue. Characters communicate through animation, expressions and Bulb Boy's wonderfully peculiar bubble speech.
And beneath all the monsters, eyeballs, teeth, bodily fluids and general unpleasantness, there is also a surprising amount of heart.
Almost eleven years after players first entered the Bulbhouse, we are very happy to help bring both adventures together in one collection.
